The leaves have fallen from the trees…
The wind is whipping choppy seas…
and everywhere the pace is slowing down…
The fishing boats are anchored in…
The tourist trade is wearing thin…
and soon, the ones who can, will leave this town…

Just like a bird, they’ll fly away…
In search of brighter, sunny days…
They’ll leave their summer nest for Southern warmth…
They’re gone six months and sometimes more…
But they come back to mind their store…
They all show up in Spring, just like a swarm!

Alas, but in my younger days,
I ridiculed the snowbird ways…
I called them ‘chickens’, for their quick escape…
But now I call them ‘wise old owls’…
Because the winter’s here are fowl…
(Please pardon that last pun, for heaven’s sake!)

Oh, how I’d love to stow away
on some big jet, but not today…
Instead I’m stuck with shovels, boots, and gloves…
But on the brighter side of things,
some benefits our Winter brings…
the setting lends itself to nights of love!

In front of roaring fireplace,
the glow reflects upon each face…
A glass of wine will serve to warm the heart…
Soft music, softer candlelight,
puts magic in a Winter night,
and Northern Lights display such wondrous art!

Next morn you find you’ve been snowed in…
Upon your face there sits a grin…
No work today…for every soul in town…
It’s time for skis and snow machines,
and all the fun things Winter brings…
A just reward for those who hung around…

Now, don’t forget the Holidays,
when loved ones meet at Grandma’s place,
and Christmas dawns amidst new fallen snow…
Then New Years fireworks light the sky,
and suddenly you realize…
you’re quite content to call this town your home…

Yes, Winter here is harsh, that’s true,
and even when my lips turn blue,
I realize I’m right where I should be…
I wouldn’t change a single thing,
so when the snowbirds all take wing,
I’m glad that kind of life is not for me!

Yes.....I do enjoy the seasons. It kinda makes nature seem more orderly. Don't think I'd like a place where it was the same all the time!! Thank you!!

The poem is lovely

Too cold for me ...

can come to Florida and buy
a new RV !

*By the way - I've lived in this
wonderful State Of Florida all my life -
and believe me ...
Santa doesn't wear shorts !
We let him run nekkid !

Hi lil sis, beautiful as ever, utterly beautiful. You even make it sound like fun, now if only it wasn't so cold, I might even consider flying north for the winter. (But you know snow, any kind, is never my favourite sight.) Just send me a pic of you in the snow love! That'll convince me!

Take care, and the others all send a rousing hi there lil sis. Followed by she is so talented, and a warm hug from each of us.
Ciao

Dear Sunny this is a most delightful read and I just love it
where I live we can sometimes have 4 seasons in one day and
a lot of people don’t like it but I wouldn’t change a thing
