I Made a Passing Grade |

I sit out on the front porch- And I sadly reminisce, And wonder how, a plan like ours Could ever go amiss. How all the money that I saved- Could just go up in smoke, And all my dreams for you and me… Could now seem like a joke. I think about when we were young, And thought we were in love. Time served to prove how wrong we were, As push turned into shove. So passing years, and traveled miles- More surely than a school… Teach us lessons about life, And prove that we are fools. Only fools will build their dreams- Upon life’s shifting sand. On things as flighty as the vows By woman, or a man. I look back on my classes- On mistakes which I have made… I guess if learning is the goal, I made a passing grade. |
