Denise, I read your sonnet this morning and wrote you this little poem I'd Never Known Such Splendor I’ve watched the moon’s reflection Dance across Montego Bay And on the rippling Ashley At the end of Charleston’s day And in a little brook as it Meandered on it’s way I’ve stood upon the hill and seen A thousand boats or more Carry torches for the Virgin Mary To a far off shore Bahia’s glittering waters I’d remember evermore I sat upon the midnight sands One equitorial night To watch the crabbers’ lanterns Reflect a splendid sight Twinkling on the waters with their Subtle glowing light I’ve gazed atop a mountain peak Through Inca phantom eyes From Machu Picchu’s verdant crest Peru’s most glorious skies Midnight’s brilliant grandeurs That completely mesmerize I'd never known such splendor That so draws and mystifies Until I saw two twinkling jewels Of life’s most precious prize The innocence and wonder In my child’s sparkling eyes Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 09-25-2000).] |

Absolutely beautiful, Elizabeth!! Nothing in the world compares to those little twinkling eyes, does it? You more than anybody would know that after all those magnificent places that you've seen!! Thank you for this beautiful song, Elizabeth!! Keep 'em coming!! Denise |

Tis true - all these wonders of travel - cannot compare - but Liz I must tell you I think your composition here - rivals all of the most beautiful poems I've read in many a moon |
