Where were you when the Babe hit out I was the one that missed out Where were you when Armstrong Walked upon the moon And made most of us strong I had no television Where were you when Secretariat Trippled crowned I had no money and frowned Where were you when Vietnam raged I was on my way there While the world raged Where were you when they dropped the bomb I was on my way to my tomb Where were you when the Gulf flamed I could not understand why we engaged Where were you when the King of Rock failed I was listening to "Love me Tender" Where were you when Marilyn mystified us I was thinking of catching a bus I had to go to Memphis To listen to a "Dream" Where were you when Cassius yelled momma I was soothing someone's face Where were you when the Saint of Calcutta Touched the lepers before she said, Love ya I was hungry, cold and homeless Where were you When I needed you I was too busy not listening to you Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love (Daniel J D) |

To Tracie66, Marsha, Aimster and Victoria. Comments well taken, yes isn't it great just to walk down memory lane and see the events that helped shape our lives and made us aware of some of our weaknesses. Paula, Thank you again. History often puzzles us with its complexities. We need to understand the people who make history before we can analyse its implications. Irie, This need not be confusing, just close your eyes for a few second, call out 5 years which you have lived, try to remember a significant event of that year. Whatever comes to mind is important enough, for it made you remember. Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love (Daniel J D) |

This is one that made me think, and I like that. I know that we don't remember everything in our lives, just as we don't always listen to everything either, and maybe the two are intermingled somehow. I enjoyed this one. Great poem, Daniel! Can't say I was around for those events, but you illustrated them very nicely!! ![]() sp Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: 'it might have been.' -John Greenleaf Whittier |

Irish Rose, You are so right, listening is an art many people have put in their bottom draw. Thank you so much for the reply. Elizabeth, Point taken, although peculiar, it certainly highlights moments of history that mean so much. Snowpants, Love your comments always.
