WOULD THAT I WERE BLIND < !signature-->Would that I were blind, that I could not see The crystal blue sky raining misery. Would that I were deaf, that I could not hear Dichotomous whispers in the wind so clear. Would that I were mute, that ne'er I would speak Such sweet words of love, render myself weak. Would that I ne'er allowed myself to feel Emotion should be shared - love to be real. Would that I dreamt not, that life were held stale, Ambition be death, Hope bearing the veil. Would that darkened eyes never learned to cry, Never there mourned a heart given to lie. Would that I were dead, never lived at all. Would that reason stood to not build this wall. Such pain, such anguish never to be known, Would that I stood not amongst you, alone. Michael Anderson For all behind was dark and drear, And all before was night and fear. How many hours of night or day In those suspended pangs I lay, I could not tell; I scarcely knew If this were human breath I drew. Lord Byron [This message has been edited by Michael (edited 04-28-2000).] |

Your words hold a timeless quality, a realism, and a romanticism, and a painful reminder that the finest poetry is written from deep emotion, and you have searched deep from what I've read. Few go beyond the surface, and yours only keeps getting better. Kathleen |

------------------- For M, Let not the pain take your sight, for even in the darkness ... would your heart not still seek the light. Nor not in deafness may you hide, for even in the silence ... there would still be those voices inside. Never truly mute, your poets pen has spoken, Gods gift to you ... your amazing grace, so special, no small token. It is not a weakness to believe in love, or to feel, never stop dreaming ... never give up hope, faith and love WILL in time heal. Hands held out ...please know your never alone, never stop searching for the light ... believe in yourself as we do ... in time all of Gods reasons will be shown. jm never alone M, take care, jm Is it too much to find an answer, Is it too much to hold you close. Is it too much to find a reason, Is it too much to free my soul -- From self control ... And I know you're always waiting for me ... You take me far away, And I know you're holding me ... And it's better now ... ~vertical horizon~ |

Micheal, This is such a dark emotional piece, yet it tells me that you are not about to give up. For you continue to write. I hope I see you smiling very very soon my friend. All my love, Jeffrey I lie awake in a world filled with dreams, but dreams can be so real when you don't know you're asleep |

Would that you had never lived at all, the world feel something missed, never to know words that enthrall, thus removed from a poet's kiss. |

Michael my friend, you are truely never alone. There are so many that do care for you, if you could just see that. Beautiful work as always. |

This poem is very haunting and beautiful, but much too sad! Sometimes I worry about you. But it's really wonderful that you keep writing - it's been the saving of me in dark times of my life, along with my faith. You write very deep and rich poems of sorrow. ~ ~ ~ The spiritual wind that holds survivors aloft, plants the seeds from which bloom new hope ... R.J.G. |

Michael you are never alone and would your pen run out of ink, we would be far worse for it. Your words are hauntingly beautiful |

Irish Rose, TY that's quite a compliment. Indeed, the deepest wounds bleed of poetry. tracie...LOL Yeah, I am always trying to get a message to someone - but seldom do they hear me thinks... Janet, never alone - lonely nonetheless... Jeffrey, na - I will never give up. Too many friends here I'd be letting down. Won't let that happen. Corinne - Thank you for the sweet poem. Sy, I do believe you're right my friend. Mistik, know you can relate bud, thanks for reaching... and reminding. Marilyn, long time no see... Glad you enjoyed the poem, and I know... Rosemary, alas there is no worry for you or Lucky. I am down of late but writing is how I deal with it - my "purge" if you will. I am very glad that my poems help you too. Ruth, thank you and I'm glad to see you... you've been in my prayers. Thank you all for the kind replies, Michael |
