~ The Legend: Ghost of the Tranquil Seas ~ The Story Goes... ~~~~~~~ Once a lonely maiden fair believed that she could fly - Stepped off the cliff, fell to the sea, now hear her ghostly cry... She walked the ledge for many years her cries upon the breeze - Some have claimed they've seen her ghost drifting 'cross the Seas... Legend tells, there was a man somewhere who held the key - Who, if he fell in love, would release her from the sea. His love would give her life again no more there, would she roam - Where upon the cliffs of hell in death, became her home... So every night she waited, listening for a horse's breath - For hooves which carried such a man whose love would mend her death. And every man who passed, she approached him oh so fair - With ghostly eyes so lovingly spoke, "Love me if you dare..." The men would ride off terrified into the dark of night - and leave her kneeling there in tears, trembling in moonlight... One night though - a different sound fell clearly on her ear - The sound of hoofbeat strong & sure approached her, ever near... Her many tears had made her blind his face, she could not see - She simply stood there reaching out, - so angelically... Her gown & hair blew round her in a wisp of ghostly white - His gentle voice said, "Look at me..." unaware, she'd lost her sight. She turned her eyes toward him, and he looked within them deep - He saw her soul, transparently and there began to weep... He'd traveled many years searching for her spirit lost - Determined he would find her, no matter what the cost. She was his maiden fair a pure reflection of his soul - Her eyes a mirror to his own, her essence made him whole. He helped her step down from the ledge and stood in breathless awe - He brushed her hair back from her face, amazed by what he saw... Her ghostly features now had life her empty eyes found sight - A starlit smile graced her lips, he fell in love that night... The story goes, they never parted - you no longer hear her cries... Instead there on the Sea's below, you hear angelic sighs... Sighs of sweet contentment laced with sighs of ecstasy - Two lovers swimming in their Sea of pure tranquility... ~~~~~~~~ -poetFemmeFatale April 24, 2000 |

Thank you dear Jeffrey for taking the time to read it - I know it's awfully long, but there was just no way to condense it! ![]() |

There is an old saying that ghosts are the regrets of living men...perhaps that holds true in that ghosts follow us throughout our lives. I too have regrets of things I did or did not do, but without them I wouldn't be here, now would I? Sorry if this rambles but I just got to work and I'm still asleep... ![]() |

Gen, this is excellent and not too long at all... loved the imagery and darkness in this... and of course the happy ending...gotta have that right????*Smile* so very well written my poetic princess!! later sweet-Gen-Gator jm Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders And it makes me want to touch you there. And the light in your eyes makes me feel Like there's something much better out there Something kind... And I know someday I might be looking around Trying to find some purpose Well purpose it can't be that hard to find As long as I've got the wind... The wind and your love to carry me. vertical horizon |

Lost Dreamer - - I too found peace in it....Thank you my dear. Robert - - Glad you enjoyed it bro! How was your weekend with the folks, BTW? hehe I'll bet..... ![]() Butterflies_don't_cry - - I've taken a very different turn of late with my poetry. Indeed, I have been attempting to "weave" a tale into them. I think I like my writing better that way. Thank you for noticing the changes! ![]() Janet - - Glad you liked! You don't think it's too long? It's probably the longest I've written yet, short of a funny I did in Adult a long time ago. ![]() The BlindMan - - I'm so glad you journeyed with me into this one. I'm hoping many more do too. 'Twas a happy journey, I hope? Thank you sir. |

Man, to only have a story teller as good as you as a child... how do you do that? I wish I had your imagination and creativity. =) This was beautiful. When you described her kneeling and tremibling in tears it all became clear as day... wow. Yes, 'tis an honor to know such a great story teller. Even if only through a message board. ![]() TOO LONG!? Not this one... hell.. I'm not sure how you could have made it any better, but I'm hungry for more. It's not long enough! =) Guess I should get back to work huh? [sigh] I'm coming down with a cold or something too... ![]() "Don't let your character get camoflaged with your environment. Find who you are and let it stay in its true colors." --Rachel Joy Scott |

My goodness Gen. I am taken in by every piece you have written. I know you haven't heard me reply lately. But I have read and reread and reread all of you poems from the last month or two. You have such a gift. You steel my imagination. Then inspiration fills my being. I can only hope to write as well as you. I love all your work. But with this one you have taken it to the next level. Your imagery. WOW !!! |
