I searched for love I searched for love in every place Around the world’s entire face But couldn’t seem to find the love That feeling I was dreaming of I traveled far and traveled long Looking for compassion’s song Across the land, on open sea But it just kept eluding me I sought the meaning of respect In ponderings of introspect I searched the earth in places rare Here and there and everywhere I went to knock on honor’s door A place I’d visited before But seems that there was no one home And so I stood there all alone I thought it was my spirit’s must To look around for loving trust But it was just a mere illusion And ended in the same conclusion I finally searched for simple truth The kind that I possessed in youth But seems no matter how I tried The truth somehow would be denied Finally with a weary nod I bowed and humbly prayed to God And asked why was it I couldn’t find These treasures that were on my mind I traveled all around the world And not a single one unfurled Where can I find the love, respect Compassion, honor, I expect He said those things that you beseech Are very well within your reach You need not journey long and far For all of them are in your heart The problem is your heart is closed And none of them have been exposed Just unlock the chamber door The love and truth will kindly pour Make the contents of your heart Gifts you readily impart And you’ll find happiness within As they come pouring right back in All these things which I had sought Were in my heart, helplessly caught My heart need only my implore To simply open up the door Elizabeth Santos |

"The problem is your heart is closed And none of them have been exposed Just unlock the chamber door The love and truth will kindly pour" ~ so very true these words. Not all those who wander are lost. ~J.R.R. Tolkien |

Elizabeth, my friend~ This is such a lovely piece to begin the day. 'I finally searched for simple truth The kind that I possessed in youth' That's where it begins and it brings us to our knees before it stands us on our feet. Have a wonderful day ! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Elizabeth, The love you seek contains no locks. Nor the cunning of a fox. It is a simple attitude. That comes from simple latitude. Love is not a magic potion, Nor is it a lotion. Love is but a give and take, It's that simple for goodness sake. Your poem is exquisite. Love Sy |
