Dear Almighty Creator, I'm writing to you at this time, to give notice of my resignation, I'm most sorry to disappoint you, but I no longer feel anticipation. Please understand, for centuries now ... I have treasured my occupation, but in the last millennium so much has changed ... now all I see is devastation. Every where I look there is the ill effects of Mankind's greed driven imprecations, so much is being destroyed without even the slightest hesitation. My tired eyes have seen so much ... that they have lost their fascination, all the waste and destruction has taken my ability to feel adulation. The loss is so immense, yet they seem blind to the long term ramifications, or perhaps their desire for fortune and fame is their own denial and justification. Still I hold out hope, there are those who try to help ... reaching out thru education, I see them working hard to spread the word and to disperse the information. These messengers of earth are our last hope ... they are your angels of salvation, so I will pray its not too late ... I pray mankind will hear their truths and declarations. Somehow their eyes must be opened to see the consequences, and the cost of their incantations, If only they could foresee the future and resist greed's lusty temptations. If only they could accept and change ... it would be a healing revelation, but until then I beg of you, please accept my resignation ... and I will pray for the future of my beloved Earth ... as I believe in her reincarnation. Signed, Mother Nature. P>S> Perhaps you could look in to retirement for my love Father Time... For, I fear time is running out and he too will have to resign. Janet Marie Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders And it makes me want to touch you there. And the light in your eyes makes me feel Like there's something much better out there Something kind... And I know someday I might be looking around Trying to find some purpose Well purpose it can't be that hard to find As long as I've got the wind... The wind and your love to carry me. vertical horizon |

Janet, This is a very deep look through the eyes of Mother Earth. Very real problems that you have so vividly portrayed. The P.S. at the end is so touching even to a hardened heart like mine...lol Your writing is so exquisite in every piece that I have read. Keep 'em coming. With Love and Lotsa Respect, Jeffrey |

Janet, Well, this is another great addition to our Earth Day Challenge. I really love the perspective. You are so right, we have been stressing out mother Nature too much. She was bound to quit, we'll have to work very hard to convince her to take up the job again, without her we are dead. thanks for this great post. Parker |

Janet - touching ---and well written. From the eyes of Mother Earth. I sure hope she doesn't resign. This is a great addition to "earth day" Thanks for writing it. To some of the younger generation this saving the earth is rather new. I grew up in a era where this all was very important. The hippies (flower children) really knew. Then life gets bustling by - and we look back and think -- our ideals have fallen with time ---- yet, there are still many that held to our dreams of keeping dear mother earth clean. Many people do not know that one styro foam cup. JUST one - buried in the ground - takes one hundred years to desolve. One baby diaper another 100 years to disolve. Anything that is plastic another 100 years to disolve. OH yeah, we can burn them -- but there goes the ozone HOLE - larger and more threatening. Our fuel is short, and yet we have the means with hemp to build a car that is ran on marijuana ---)but governments - stop this stuff -- and so it is not just the people who make the laws or decide what we will do. We have cars that run on batteries and on electricity, too -- but for the convenience of mankind - we rape our earth of all its "fossil" energy. There were only so many dinosaurs, you know. But, the question is - who will be the first to change in the hustle and bustle of this world? To ride a bike, or at least use a motorcycle or a mophead - and to always car pool. It all leads down to war, without these "natural resources" and if all people started using less energy -- then we would be vulnerable to "war" We send rockets up to pioneer other places, but even if we find another liveable planet, how long do you think it will be before mankind rapes that resource, too? Just some thoughts to think about! netswan |
