I'm just a simple balladeer
With some small tales to tell.
I travel hill and countryside
With hopes to do it well.
My knapsack and my walking stick
Are friends who serve me well.
I'm just a simple balladeer
With some small tales to tell.

Brave knights traverse the countryside
Bedecked on gallant steeds.
With reverence and awe I tell
Of all their wondrous deeds.
The ladies lie at their commands
To give them rightful due
But I am just a balladeer
And I'm in love with you.

I'm just a simple balladeer
The roaming life I choose.
The world my inspiration...
Mother Nature is my muse.
With stories told of deeds so bold
I honor God and king.
I'm just a simple balladeer
With some small song I sing.

The king, resplendant on his throne,
Has wealth beyond compare,
Bedazzles every lady with
His strong majestic air.
Protector of the land is he.
His subjects serve him true
But I am just a balladeer
And I'm in love with you.

I'm just a simple balladeer.
I travel with the dawn
With hopes to find a passage through
The mists of Avalon.
All forest creatures know my name...
I honor bird and fawn.
I'm just a simple balladeer
Who travels with the dawn.

The sailors in their fighting ships
Are rulers of the seas.
With chests of gold and wealth untold
They have all things they please.
Heroic deeds abound as these men
Sail the ocean blue
But I am just a balladeer
And I'm in love with you.

I'm just a simple balladeer.
My memory is my worth.
'Twas not my fate to be a knight
Nor come from royal birth.
I have no gold to offer one
Except for love that's true.
I'm just a simple balladeer
And I'm in love with you.

You will go on...I know you must.
Your gallant knight awaits
Or king upon his golden throne
To bid you through his gates
But, when the minstrals sing at night
Of love devout and true
They sing about this balladeer
And it will be of you.

Oh, Balladeer, weave a tale of splender and claim its no real bender. You are the slickest trickster, and I bow to this fine feather in your cap.
But somewhere in those words there is a trap. You write of humble travels through the land, but I'm sure you live in sunny California with your tan. So I'll dig until I find your thorny rose, behind those words of color you compose. You are the slyest hobo with a poem.

This is wonderfully written, Michael. As always, you have penned some awesome verse!

(there's no such thing as 'just a simple balladeer', though.... no 'just' or 'simple' about it)

(and hope for a long stay)
This was lovely.....

Oh my Balladeer the words a woman wants to
hear. "I love you"
Lovely -- told those men to be careful
about going up against the balladeer!

Fantastic as always Balladeer,
I stand here humbled by this 'simple' force who says...

But, when the minstrels sing at night
Of love devout and true
They sing about this balladeer
And it will be of you

....

No, man, you ain't simple at all...

this one was simply fabulous...

Regards, sudhir

My heart is pounding, my stomach's inside out
I'm feeling kind-a-shaky, my mind is full of doubt
All I ever think about, is fearing fear itself,
Wish I could unscrew my head and put it on the shelf
Everything is twisted, everything is oh so tight,
Don't know what I'm looking at, the lights are all too bright
My brain's about to crumble, spill out on the floor
Sweep 'em up. Throw 'em away, don't want 'em anymore
Clouds race across the sky, day turns into night,
Still there are the questions, no answers in sight
Everything is twisted, everything is oh so tight,
Starin' out the window, everything is just too bright
Brain's about to crumble, spill out on the floor,
Wish I could unscrew my head, and kick it out the door...
You know I'm feeling kind-a....Strange
You know I'm feeling kind-a....Strange

Thus far, I have been a quiet observer.  This, however, made me come out of the shadows long enough to register.

For singing this tale of love so very dear
Of love found and lost and found yet again
Such a sweet song, from such a wonderous pen!*

Balladeer,
So humbling and written beautifully.

Somehow, if this was a self-portrait, your talents and worth far exceed that which you know. I enjoyed this read very much. Marcy

Oh my how could I,
Let this slip by,
Simple Balladeer, honest and true,
modest being yourself, being you,
Sweet as honey and romantic too!
Such maturity and wisdom will do,
Knight in golden armour are you!
