Regret I’ve written many lines In the troubled confines Of a mind consumed in regret Regret has no cure No antidote to fix The price that we pay For those we let slip Decisions we made Not always the best But now hard to change That life that we left I’ve wondered one time Well maybe just two Would it have been right Had I not seen through Had I given notice To problems you kept Asked how to help you Held you tight as you wept Sat silent and listened To each word that you said Not assumed that I knew it Ignoring instead That those troubles were real Not some figment or doubt Of your imagination I mistook for a pout The troubles were deep And my back I did turn Much too late did I see What I needed to learn Compassion and love A look in your eyes Some sort of sign That your side I stood by And now sulking in silence Thoughts when we first met Feel pain that I left you Now a life of regret. What a sad heartfelt poem, Spiked and well written. Life is like that, we choose a path and sometimes we look back. LOL lots of times we look back, and wonder should I have changed the direction, but that is what makes us stronger and wiser- those regrets. Take care ~netswan |

Oh, we could torture ourselves forever on the 'what ifs' of life. I don't think there's a single person in the world who couldn't relate to the feelings expressed in this poem. I loved reading this even if it did make me ponder the 'what ifs' in my own life. Good work! "That man has shown himself great who has never grieved in evil days and never bewailed his destiny." --Seneca |

The troubles were deep And my back I did turn Much too late did I see What I needed to learn Spiked... I know exactly how this feels to be on the receiving end. It's still happening to me now sometimes, but he's learning... but is the pace to slow for me?? Only time will tell..... Enjoyed it immensely. Linda M. |
