If I could strip away
All the things I do
Would you still love me?

If I quite doing dinner
If the laundry didn't get done
Would you still love me?

If you came home
To a house not clean
Would you still love me?

If you stripped away
All I do and all I give
Would you still love me?

Would you love me
For who I am to you?
Would you still love me?

Can't you see
That in all those things
I put my love?

But even without them
I still love you,
Would you still love me?

DA I don't know why this popped in mind last night, but it did. From your view point. I might be way off here. But in any case I hope it helps you some!
You have many ~HUGS~ from me, I'm sorry I haven't been there lately. But I am now! You're so sweet, and I hope things brighten up for you soon!

WhtDove, I'm sure with people like you things can't help but look brighter. Dark Angel--here's a smile for you:

Thats a very sweet poem, everyone needs to be loved for who they are and not what they do otherwise you just end up loving lies . I like this poem very much, it re-expressed what already knew but couldn't accept . Thanks .

Liz you're so sweet, but I'm not so sure about making things brighter around everyone.
But thank you for such a sweet comment.

Tom, I hope it helps others see, it's not just what we do. It's how we feel, and putting those feeling into the things we do.
Sometimes we love for the wrong reasons. So take away all the other things, and really look at the person. Do we still love them for them? Or because of what they do?

this was quite touching
and beautiful. you write from
the heart, and pose a very
interesting question. great poem.

WhtDove; I like your thoughts on this one. I think I will run a copy with yes or no choices and give my husband a test. I don't want him to fail. Different and delightful.

If I came home from working at the factory all day
From doing work I hated just to earn a decent pay
And when I walked into the house, the whole place was a mess
And you were saying "Do you love me?" I would say "I guess."

If all my clothes were dirty 'cause the laundry wasn't done
While you were playing Bingo with the girls and having fun
And the dishes overflowed the counters and the kitchen sink
As you were saying "Do you love me?". I would say "I think."

If I had to clear a pathway through the den with a machete
And the living room took on a semblance of the Serenghetti
And you said you wanted me to love you just for who you are
You can rest assured that I will always love you - from afar!

Now, ladies, don't attack me! I'm just having some fun with dovey and interjecting a man's point of view here. Put those daggers down! It's a joke!!!! Oh, jeez.....
