(Ok, this poem doesn't apply to me, as you can read in the reply thread, it's merely a tribute to abused children...) Oh, my Heavenly Father Watch over me tonight Be with me as I go through This terrible time of fright Lead me to the still waters Restorith my soul I'm asking you, my Father You alone have the control Oh Lord, here he comes Only You will know Of the terror that I feel Of every stinging blow You're the only Father That I have ever known You alone can see How his hate has grown Oh, my Heavenly Father If I die tonight It will only mean freedom From every night of fright I can't wait to meet you, Father, face to face You can pick the time, I already know the place This is for all the children who seek a Heavenly Father instead of an earthly one...< !signature--> "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde [This message has been edited by LoveBug (edited 04-20-2000).] |

I think we have all felt with way at some point. There is no worse emotion then fear and feeling helpless. We don't always feel it or know it, but I believe He does see. I also believe if you are still here.....you were meant to be a survivor! Maybe even to help others. And this poem does help LoveBug. Thank you for sharing. Marina |

Thank you, Marina, but this poem doesn't apply to me, it's just a tribute to abused children. I'm lucky to have a very loving earthly father as well as a Heavenly One. But thanks for replying! "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde |

As I read this I couldn't help but remember all the times I prayed for God to take me home. My tears continue to fall even as I write this reply. Thank you for posting this piece and reminding us all that we still have a "Father" All my love, Jeffrey |

Corrine: Yes, prayer is the best medicine. Thank you Jeffrey: Yes, we all have a Heavenly Father, and if this poem helped remind you of that, I'm glad I posted it. "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde |

Abuse does different things to everyone I guess. The abuse I felt at the hands of my father helped push me towards atheist rather than religion. To each his own I guess. Nice poem. |
