This is about any kind of abuse really...emotional, mental, spiritual, physical, sexual... and the damage it can do. Once, golden towers guarded the horizon, Impregnable walls of stone Ramparts of hope and quiet perfection, Filled with many golden domes Through the years, an ageless work of wonder, Thriving with the flowing of time From the fertile plain sitting under, A seed, planted in my mind But then the winds of apathy blew With a certain kind of hate, And all that stood strong, it tried to undo, While whispering words of fate Echoes of a long forgotten memory Shatter the silence at dawn And all within hearing became weary, Shrinking from the calling horn Warning all who would stand and listen With a rush of sound and force, The cold wind of reality comes in, Gripping all who stay the course So we try to hide in shadows of fear, As the stone crumbles and falls Into a mist that clouds that which is near, ‘Til nothing is left of the formidable walls Into ruin, and tumultuous seas Alone, I am left behind To behold a graveyard of memories, They are pouring from my mind Out goes the light that will show me the way, Into darkness once again So I am left to take hold of the flame, Seeds of life burning within All traces have been swallowed in the deep Hope gives way to apathy, Pain has a way of lulling me to sleep, Despair somehow sets me free Betrayed by what I thought and what it seemed, The battle siege already begun When I let reality obscure the dream, My enemy had already won From the grave, my ghostly memories cry, Opening freshly closed wounds in my brain Screaming, they pluck out my eyes, Forever they will remain Rumors of the final soliloquy Whisper through ruins of rust Sweet as a dream, it washes over me, Like all dreams, I turn to dust |

But then the winds of apathy blew With a certain kind of hate, And all that stood strong, it tried to undo, While whispering words of fate Echoes of a long forgotten memory Shatter the silence at dawn And all within hearing became weary, Shrinking from the calling horn --------------- Into ruin, and tumultuous seas Alone, I am left behind To behold a graveyard of memories, They are pouring from my mind Out goes the light that will show me the way, Into darkness once again So I am left to take hold of the flame, Seeds of life burning within All traces have been swallowed in the deep Hope gives way to apathy, Pain has a way of lulling me to sleep, Despair somehow sets me free Betrayed by what I thought and what it seemed, The battle siege already begun When I let reality obscure the dream, My enemy had already won -------------- Rumors of the final soliloquy Whisper through ruins of rust Sweet as a dream, it washes over me, Like all dreams, I turn to dust ------------ ...and with this an addiction began...(smile) you know this one is a sentimental fav of mine.
