Hailstorm~ A Song For Scott When you're trying to harvest in a hailstorm you needn't wait long for the thaw We may have shared a heart of gold but dear, to me, you were without flaw And the days and nights are a precious few that I don't wish you here by my side But I know you know why I had to pull I know you remembered why I had to hide We always had more than just you and I you had your fame, I had my memories But we waded through every dark corner, still searching through the storm for the absentees There may have been another day in time when the past could not have soiled our dreams But love, where do we find the fire now when only coals lie beneath this balance beam? So the melody we sing is still that gentle reel And we're missing each other's arms today So many nights akin to hailstorms stepping back for the thaw to harvest our hay Claire [This message has been edited by Meadowmuse (edited 04-20-2000).] |

Claire, this music does indeed touch the heart of the Meadowmuse does it not? I know now the pain that you felt that day. . . it shows in this poem. . ."So the melody we sing is still that gentle reel. . ." Played in heart's time my friend. . .played in heart's time. . . ----------------------------------------------------- That which gives light must endure burning --Victor Frankl |

And how the past DOES soil dreams... You astound me, Meadowmuse...You write with a delicate, but sharp edge...like a scalpel...(I read your work faithfully.) Much appreciation. |

JML, Sven, Serenity, thank you all for reading and letting me know what you think of this. My friend, Scott, has been trying to convince me that I can write songs. Of course, that's like the sunshine telling a shadow she can shine...but I'm sharing it with him today and hoping he doesn't laugh.(too heartily ~ at least, not at this... ) Thanks again... ~ Claire [This message has been edited by Meadowmuse (edited 04-21-2000).] |
