( poem by my ex ... from 1971 ) This is the only poem of hers that I have left to remember her soul It was published in the 'London Free Press' ... can't remember for what occasion ... transcribed from the clipping ... Winters Heart ~~~ With summer flowers dying The leaves will soon be dead Then winter creeps upon us 'Tis the coldness most I dread ~ When the icy breath of winter wraps its arms around you whole And its fingers draw within you to freeze your bitter soul You shudder deep within you Pray for warmth to come again But you know the prayers desired Are prayers you speak in vain And you don your non-emotion wrap it round your body tight Futile attempts you muster 'Tis futility you fight ~ Now you know that you are shallow cannot give the love they need And you know now deep within you You are winters' heart indeed ~~~ Jan McCoy 1971 |

Her poem was very well done Rex ... I can see why you were inspired to begin writing as you noted in your "early poem challenge" post. Best wishes, /Kit |

Rex~ My friend it is with a very spiritual soul with which she writes, most talented indeed (not that I'm one to judge talent) but this is beautiful and inspiring Love to you Tracie~ P.S thanks for sharing< !signature--> Love is the life of the soul...
