Her eyes shine like crystal water, < !signature-->despite the changing stream of time. She looks to me with cynical hope, this girl who's all but nine. Born to wear the mask of shame, a child trapped in hate's tremulous gaze. Was there ever hug of purity given? so precious once, she exists now in a haze. "Goodbye to innocence" a fabulous line meant for the fond memories of age. What of innocence never known? Such demons of tourture master her rage! Carried away, all smiles and bubbles, a plastic shell of potential lost. Playing like a puppy on the hospital floor, She already knows that love carries a cost. Grant that I may not judge my niegbor until I have walked a mile in his moccasians Native American prayer [This message has been edited by christies heart (edited 04-17-2000).] |

And the light in your eyes makes me feel Like there's something much better out there Something kind... And I know someday I might be looking around Trying to find some purpose Well purpose it can't be that hard to find As long as I've got the wind... The wind and your love to carry me. vertical horizon |

Janet Marie, I really appreciate your response. It means a lot! ![]() Terry, Thanks for your kind response. This poem is one of the more meaningful ones for me, so I am glad that I was able to express that. My wife told me a story the other day about when she was 5 how she felt so grown up... and how that surely when she was 10 she would surely be old enough by then. I never could figure out "old enough for what..!" but never the less it was very cute. |
