Icicles

It gave you pleasure
melting my resistance,
shining in the sparkle
you found in my eyes,
a twinkling treasure

Partially hidden from view,
wrapped in glossy paper
you tore away layers,
ribbons untied

Held this gift in your gaze,
touched outer layers,
slipped in skillfully,
heat replaced cold,
closed my eyes
to milky ways

I have often wished upon you
like some far off star
in the wintry sky,
and thought,

Darlin’, if you only knew

wow as well
fantastic especially the first stanza

It gave you pleasure
melting my resistance,
shining in the sparkle
you found in my eyes,
a twinkling treasure

Good writing, Corine.  I like the references to love being a gift.  It is, too bad more people don't realise this.

Thank you, Corinne - this is one of my favorite poems, and definitely deserved another read.  That last line is a killer line.

This is a very subtle sensual poem, that hints at mystery.... I wonder if just like the author....
