I don't know why I did it...

As this phrase echoes through my mind
I picture the young man who utters it
I see the boy he is and the errors he makes
and I try to picture the man he will be.
The errors that the man will admit to
and learn from are harder to see...
but it's the mistakes that we remember best
better than the easy successes
which feel more like luck
than something worked for and, therefore, earned.
I hope he learns this much.
I hope he feels comfortable
about learning from mistakes
and does not try to bury them guiltily,
never to benefit.
Sometimes he does this now...
tucks the mistakes away, hides them,
and hides from them.
And I feel sad and scared
that he can't value them for what they are...
valuable lessons about life.

Jana~
Very powerful poem, dear.  It is true, we must all learn from our mistakes, or face the fate of making the again.  But at least there is one thing good to remember....If you make mistakes, then at least you are human, and you are trying!!!
