The Stranger I Passed |

I sat down by myself on the park bench contemplating...how funny life is - how one minute you think something is forever, and then it’s not, but you don’t really care...after awhile... how you think you are one way, not at all like your parents, and then you start to see things through their eyes... how the days used to drag on, then they started to pass more quickly and, now, oh how time does fly! I just sat down on this bench in the park to read my book and listen to the wind and the trees, swaying gracefully, instead, seeing all that’s passed, and wondering how I ever thought I knew what was yet to come...the twists and turns, the blind alleys, a future - now all in the past and here I am, the way I am, not at all like I’d once pictured myself...different, looking back at the stranger I passed. |

Awesome poem, Jana! And so easy to relate to, remembering being a kid during summer, sooo bored, nothing to do, zoom forward to trying to complete a thousand tasks in the fourteen hours-a-day we are awake. And even in moments when we could stop and smell the roses, we ponder instead. I hate being an adult sometimes! Well, before I continue rambling, just let me say this is fabulous work! Corinne |

Isn't it funny....we picture how we would like to be, thinking we'll someday be that person, and we're not. I guess we're meant to be the way we are. Why we are ever dealt these cards I'm not sure I'll ever know. This was great Jana. Well Expressed ~Sheri |

Jana~ A winsome look at 'who' you used to be. As we move through life ... we pass many 'strangers' of who we've been. I like stopping to revisit those 'strangers'. Thanks for the nostalgic trip. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Jana, I loved this piece, its so full of thought. I think that all of us in one way or another can relate to this. I especially with the part about seeing things through our parents eyes. its also a great journey back through our childhood and the carefree days. Keep it up! Laura |

I really enjoyed this Jana ... I find I've sat on that same park bench many a time, pondering much the same sentiments. You've described this beautifully! Best wishes, /Kit |
