Love Of Kayla ~Marge Tindal~ Tiny little Kayla, delicate and small. Didn't stand a chance when slammed against the wall. Didn't stand a chance when he got mad. Didn't stand a chance when murdered by her dad. Tiny little Kayla, sitting at God's knee Looked Him in the eye and said, "Why me?" God held her ever gently, and this was His reply, "You will live on in the hearts of many but he will only die." There will only be one answer for where he will dwell. On judgement day, rest assured he will be sent to hell. Kayla is now a tiny angel helping God watch over friends. Kayla we will remember. Kayla, what a tragic end. *In loving memory of Kayla McKean A tiny six year old autistic child murdered here in my community by her father the day before Thanksgiving 1998. Then he buried her body in the forest. Kayla's abuse had been reported many times by caring teachers and Kayla's doctor. Florida Child Protection Services did NOTHING ! Oh yes, her sorry father is in prison ... alive. |

One has to ask, "When will children ever have rights?" This is appaling, Marge... not the poem, the story behind it. Something has to change soon. Thank you for sharing this. Michael |

Michael~ Thank you for your comments. I joined my church group in searching the woods for this child while her sorry excuse for a father sat inside his apartment maintaining his dismay that she was 'kidnapped'. Too many stories from every community, Michael. I guess we have to be more diligent in listening to the children. Evidence of Kayla's blackened eye and broken bones was witheld from the judge who sent her back to her father. Thusly the creation of the Kayla McKean bill that was recently passed. Too late to help this child. God have mercy. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

I've heard tidbits of this story, Marge. Though I don't remember much about it now, it is just as tragic as Valerie Smelser's. Valerie's abusers/murderers are in prison- the mom received about 15 yrs, and the boyfriend received life imprisonment...hardly seems like justice. Like you said, they will answer to God one day... PMC~ I volunteer with several child abuse organizations ... some little lives can be repaired ... unfortunately, some are lost forever. Kaile~ Yes, hon ... he did. And repeatedly abused her before the final blows that took her life. Marina~ So many stories, so many children ... too many tears. We all need to get involved in stronger legislation that will punish the perpetrators with DEATH .. if they so much as harm a hair on a child ! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

-Marge This hit me right in the heart. Thank you for sharing, even as terribly sad and angry as it makes me. Her father deserves to be DEAD! I don't usually feel so passionate about something but child abuse is one of them! I am hoping that I get a career in Child Protective Services. You can bet that if I do...I am going to do my damnest to help change legislation and laws, and keep talking and screaming to "the powers that be" until someone listens and finally hears. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP RIGHT NOW! God bless and take care! AMY ~Live today as though it were your last but prepare for tomorrow as though it were here~ |

Marge, this is a beautiful tribute which brought me to tears. It's a terrible situation which I'm afraid has been repeated many times... "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde |

Mariee~ Hon, I left you out of my response and I sure didn't mean to. You and your thoughts are very special to me. Thank you. RainbowGirl~ Thank you, hon. Me too ! Amy~ Sweetheart, wonderful people like you are the hope for the future. We as voters need to just untie the hands of workers and judges. Thank you and God bless. LoveBug~ Yes, too many times, hon. Nate~ You know I appreciate your thoughts, Nate. Jeffrey~ Love, there are so many and most of us only know a few of them personally. Oh, man .. the sadness runs rampant in our society. Hugs to you, my friend. Survivors make great 'doers'. Love you. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Marge** That was a very deep poem. It had a very good message as well. The victims that die, we will always remember. Thanks for sharing Kayla's story with us. Now she can live in more of our hearts. Marge~ Thanks for posting this, it was so hard to read without tears it must have been hard to write without them as well. reminded me of a little boy in our ajoining community who was murdered while being babysat one night and police had their suspicions and the person went to trial over it but was found not guilty and Jaidyns killer/killers have gotten away with the murder of a baby. Martie~ I know how intensly these tragedies also touch your heart. Love to you. DawnEclipse~ Thank you - they deserve to be remembered. Tracie~ Very hard to write - and yet the easiest thing to do, because their stories are so important. Days of searching culminating in tears. Too many 'get away' with it. And our judicial system is full of 'bleeding-hearts' that find excuses to let them go. ButterfliesDC~ Thank you. We all cry at the loss. The little ones of this earth need 'earth angels' to watch over them. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

The saddest of stories. Thank God that we still can have hope that there is a life waiting for us with him...and he will take us in his arms and love us and care for us as he is loving Kayla right now today. James |

What a tradgedy....and there are so many similar ones too. Thank you for sharing Kayla's story with us. She will always be in my heart now. When will child abuse stop? How can people hurt such precious, innocent little people? I just can't begin to understand it. This story tears my heart up.
