--With respects to M. Moliere's play of the same name.

      Tartuffe

"Bon soir, mes amies,
je suis Monsieur Tartuffe.
Who asks, why French masks?
To hide what one may see,
what else, implied proof
a fool performs old tasks
well known to us all
who walk downstage to play
the knave with what's true."

We creatures of the fall,
work hard to portray
our best before adieu.
We try concealing
terrors, their scars hidden
by screens that secrete
conscious despair; healing
denied, forbidden,
mendacious mores repeat.

"Tartuffe, mes enfants,
is master of his art,
arms length, you may see
him, happy, bon vivant,
rehearsing a part
like you, feigning to be,
knowing he is not,
hoping the world believes
a mask, the true face."

Poor Hypocrites forgot
a world on its knees
has found the safest place
to venture within
the soul. The contrite can
at last understand
how to confront the sin
He knows, since His Plan
expunged judgement's demand.

Now, THIS!  This is deep.  lol - good construction - I found myself reading words that rhyme, but they really didn't rhyme.  Does that make sense?  A truly eye-opening poem, H.

Dear H.A.; Very deep! Does this mean he is doomed or just caught?  Great style and thoroughly thought through.   Marcy
