If Only
By: Amy M. Kennedy

If only we could be together
I would love you always and forever
If only my dreams could become reality
Wishing that our time together could last an eternity

But for reasons neither of us can control…our love can not be
My heart stopped that night you told me that you love me
Every hope and dream of mine came true that night
When our hearts and souls touched, I have never felt something so right

Forever and always, I will cherish what we had
Letting you go leaves my heart sad
But knowing I don’t have to let you completely go
Will help me get through the heartache and when I feel alone

Never shall we part our bond is too strong
In your life is where I belong
But now I must pretend that what we shared doesn’t exist
I must forget you as my lover, and your sweet passionate kiss

Letting you go will be one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do
But it’s the only fair thing for you
You weren’t mine to begin with, only for a moment in time
A moment that was sweetly divine
But a moment nonetheless, and now it’s coming to an end
But for always my love I do send

So now I release you to love another, that is my ultimate gift to you
Hoping that you find happiness and a love that is true
Don’t worry you don’t need me…not like this
But for a while…oh what we shared was sweet eternal bliss

Amy, my kleenex got a work out on this one you write!  Expressions at its best; you've managed to capture the reality of a love affair and how sometimes it comes to an end yet is it an end or a new begining.

well, im gonna try and behave my self on this post...
first of all you KNOW how much I love seeing you reach for this kind of expression,
and i know how bad this hurts...man do I know,
and Im sorry your going thru it...
BUT my honest feeling is its still too soon to tell
and you both need to give it more time...
if its meant to be...it will happen...
dont close the door all the way...
and if it wasnt meant to be...
it happened for a reason... to show you your next road....
ya know???
I'll stop acting like I know what Im talking about and just say...
you know Im here for you...
me loves ya amy-girl

Amy~
So hard to do and nobody ever wants to have to let someone they dearly love go but sometimes in our hearts we know this is the best thing to do.
Tender hugs to you.

Oh Amy, so heartfelt and emotional.  The hardest part is letting go for all of us.  Sounds like this person touched your heart and soul only to take it back.  I am so sorry to hear this.  I hope that you find the love you deserve, my friend.

Great work!!

Amy,
all I can really say is, hold on to the good times. . . and move on from the rest. . . and know that this person will always hold you in a piece of their heart, just as you will always hold them in yours. . .

It does get easier. . .

This is a wonderful poem my friend. . .you have done well. . .

This is truly a magnificient poem.  I can relate so well with the feelings of which you portrayed.  I too had to endure the hardships of letting go.  My prayers are with you my friend.

Amy* This is so heartfelt...by yours and mine.  Letting someone go to love another...the nobel thing but the pain that goes with it is profound, **angel wing hugs** I too will hold the memories close for a very long time to come.

Amy,
I truly enjoyed this one because it's so easy for me to relate to.  It is comforting to know that you don't have to completely let him go - he'll always be a part of you and who you are.  Well, it's painful and comforting at the same time - a strange combination!  You wrote my heart here.  Thanks!

great work, Amy...

Hey you, out there in the cold,
Getting lonely, getting old, can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisle,
With itchy feet and fading smile, can you feel me?
Hey you, don't help them to bury the light.
Don't give in without a fight.
Hey you, out there on your own,
Sitting naked by the phone, would you touch me?
Hey you, with your ear against the wall,
Waiting for someone to call out, would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, I'm coming home....
