In This Lifetime

So many times I have wanted
To tell you what I feel inside;
But instead, I release my emotions
Through the silent tears I have cried.

If I could only tell you,
For just a second, let you see,
That in my heart I need you
As much as the air that I breathe.

If only I could show you
The visions night brings to me,
My love for you is the starlight
That brightens my every dream.

But all my hopes and wishes
I know cannot come true
For you belong to someone else,
And that someone else needs you.

So I must be strong of heart;
In this lifetime, we are not meant to be.
But I promise you, in the next, I will wait for you;
And I pray you'll wait for me.

 ~you reached inside, you touched my heart,
and I am all the better for it~

Terry that was beautiful but also sad, it seems that we desire the things that are out of our reach more than anything else. I believe that things are meant to be for a reason (a flawed ideology I know). Maybe your chance will come in this life time, maybe it is for the best that things are the way they are. Follow the feelings of your soul. a wonderful poem.

Sweetheart, this is just lovely.
How 'bout a great big *HUG* ?
How 'bout two ?

Such thoughts of longing from
a beautiful heart.
Love you ~

Brian~
     My friend, I don't think it is a flawed ideology.  I think it is a very true ideology.  We only think it is flawed because it doesn't perfectly fit into our human concept of logic.  Like you, I have to trust my heart and follow my soul.  Very wise words, my friend!

well...now it is you who write my heart.
you might as well be holding up a mirror
EXCELLENT poem Terry...
wondefully expressed emotions...
your devotion lifts off the page.
*sigh*
why does love have to be so complicated??
well...if nothing else..its good for poetic inspiration right.*smile*
take care, my friend...its just gotta get better.

They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

This is a a very sad but true poem for many people I think Terry.  You can lead a heart to love but you can't make it fall.  Unfortunitly our hearts have minds of their own.  Much enjoyed as always.

Terry,
It seems you've written this just for me.  How amazing!  Thanks for this one.  It's an experience that I've had too.  How unfair is life sometimes?

Just remember - we're with you and relate all too well.

Been there, done that, and you have said it exceptionally well. So filled with love and longing, so bittersweet. Good job!

Lori~
     Thank you so much. You know, I think that just about everyone I have talked to has had this same (or at least similar) experience.  But, like Marina said, I just have to follow my heart!
