Mask What a lovely mask you're wearing I really can't complain It soaks up all the sorrow And even masks the pain. What an ideal way to block All the things you want to hide No one can ever tell All the hurt you feel inside. And no one understands And no one cares to see The trouble you have to go to Just to pretend to be. Eventually you hope You'll be able to throw it away But you wear your mask in sorrow And sit and wait until that day. |

"Eventually you hope You'll be able to throw it away. But you wear your mask in sorrow and sit and wait until that day." Very nice flow and a good message of hope. For it is when hope enters into our thoughts that the mask will begin to crumble. James |

I think we are all guilty of wearing masks and while they protect us and hide what is fragile inside sometimes we become too dependent on them as you have shown in your poem, a great poem. made me think, thanks. ------------------------ "Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too? Very true... For the masks will fade away one day Then what will we all have to say? |

wonderful way to portray the masks we each put on daily. "If you live to be a hundred, I want to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you." |

~Blondie,...this is a wonderful recognition of what eventually has to come. You show your courage even just writing about it. Oh these masks they shield us from dealing with the reality of some situations, but really,...what's underneath probably has the strength somewhere to take it face on. *Have strength,...you're a great writer, I enjoyed this. *Peace. |

Blondie, The mask is a necessity to cope at times, but only when we take it off can we truly face things and hopefully have the strength and will to be ourselves. Hope that day comes for you. I am sure you will be a better person for it in the end. Great piece. LW |

Hi Blondie - wonderful insightful poem. Masks, we all where masks to some extent. We have our social masks, and our work masks, are parental mask, and insecurity mask - But we must know that we are wearing them and can take them off when it is needed to show our inner self so we know the difference of what is pretend and what it is real Keep writing -) ~hugs from netswan |
