I.
All Santa's elves, were hard at work,
Out in toy shop, not one did shirk,
When from outside, there came a roar,
A roar so loud, it shook shop door.
Windows rattled, as did elve's teeth,
A roar so loud, beyond belief.
The elves all cowered, too scared to speak,
Poor Rudolph's nose, in barn did tweak.
Santa Claus was not at home,
Had took day off and went to Nome,
Mrs. Claus had went along,
An evening out, of dance and song.
Back at North Pole, just what to do?
For elves all knew, their lives were through,
Said elf in charge, as shook in fear,
"What we need now, a volunteer,
to go outside, to see what's there,
Don't be afraid, does one elf dare?"
Throughout the room, could hear pin drop,
Except for roar, outside toy shop,
When from the back, came quaking squeak,
"I'll volunteer," did wee elf speak.
On trembling feet, wee elf came forth,
And headed out, in cold far north,
Scared elves inside, with baited breath,
Awaited sounds, of wee elf's death.
Then at the door, there came wee knock.
The elves too scared, to door unlock.
Then door sprang open, and in door frame,
Gigantic bear, in shop bear came!
All elves they screamed, death was at hand,
Life's end was near, for elfish band.
But then wee voice, came from shop door,
Said wee'est elf, "Please scream no more,
I'd like you all, new friend to meet,
Please say hello, in friendship greet,
He says his name is Theodore,
He's come long way, his paws are sore,
He didn't mean us elves to scare,
For he is just, a teddy bear."

II.
T'was summer time, and Santa Claus,
From all his toils, took well earned pause,
While Mrs. Claus, in rocking chair,
Darned Santa's suit, there was small tear.
The reindeer played, on tundra green,
They formed a band, with tamborine,
As Blitzen sang, and Comet drummed,
On bass guitar, dear Rudolph strummed.
Where were the elves? to Ireland gone,
To summer jobs as leprachaun,
That was but one, the smallest elf,
Who at North Pole, was by himself.
No other elves, with which to play,
The reindeer said, elf stay away,
You have no rhythm, no instrument,
From reindeer band, wee elf was sent.
Then wee elf knocked on Santa's door,
Elf was not heard, too loud the snore,
So off elf went, so sad I fear,
Upon his cheek, a wee elf tear.
He packed wee bag, with wee elf clothes,
In hanky blew, his wee elf nose,
Wee elf went south, it seemed the way,
When left North Pole, that summer day.
Back at the Pole, was time to eat,
When Santa Claus spied empty seat,
Where is wee elf, where can he be?
They found room bare, catastrophe!
A call to hooves, all reindeer hurry!
As Santa yelled, to sleigh let's scurry!
And off all flew, to find wee elf,
Who by this time, had lost himself.
As wee elf cried, he heard a jingle,
A far off bell, his heart did tingle,
For from the north, came Santa's sleigh,
To take elf home, to ever stay.
Back at North Pole, wee elf did tell,
All of the joy, of hearing bell,
So Rudolph gave the smallest elf,
A wee sleigh bell, to play himself.
Then wee elf joined the reindeer band,
Wee silver bell, rang in his hand,
Played special song he wrote himself,
Called "Jingle Bells," by wee small elf.

III.
Santa Claus was feeling blue,
Poor Rudolph had the Reindeer flue,
My oh my, what can I do?
To Mrs. Claus, did Santa stew,
Santa summoned all his elves,
From their shop, with toy filled shelves,
I need suggestions, I need them quick,
Because poor Rudolph still is sick.
Tomorrow night is Christmas Eve,
Without red nose, how can I leave?
I will get lost, won't find Tibet,
Will probably crash, into some jet.
All the children, for whom you've toiled,
Will be in tears, their Christmas spoiled.
The elves they thought, and thought and thought,
Not one idea, all was for naught,
Elves work hard, but aren't real bright,
Their bulbs are dim, there's not much light.
Then from the back, said elf so wee,
That Santa Claus could barely see,
I have a thought, I'd like to help,
The others laughed, you foolish whelp,
You are too small, such tiny elf,
Can't even reach, toy's bottom shelf.
Santa laughed, HO HO HO!!!
Tell me what you think you know,
Wee elf replied, use fireflies,
Their blinks will light up Christmas skies.

On Christmas Eve, if you're awake,
And to the skies, a gander take,
I have a thought, that you'll be thinking,
I now know why, the stars are blinking.

Mike, this is great. You obviously have a great imagination and a real love of words. (I especially love "a call to hooves) Such great rhythm. Thanks for sharing!

These are all delightful, Mike! I hope the saga never ends! Hey, I just had a thought...these would be wonderful to read to your future grandchildren some day. They can be a part of your family Christmas tradition! You can even make them each a little 'book' of them for a keepsake!

Thank you kindly Walt for the extremely gracious and generous comment.
Didn't know it ever got cold enough in Ft. Worth to get goosebumps...
