The Fragility Of Life On sheets of white Her skin becomes translucent As shallow breaths Escape through her pursed lips Once strong and sure She now lays scared and weakened Just flesh on bone And from life’s grasp she slips Now two floors up A woman’s screams are sounding As her husband Stands there by her side One final push And infant’s cry is noted One life is born While down below one dies To love means never to be afraid of the windstorms of life: should you shield the canyons from the windstorms you would never see the true beauty of their carvings. ~Elizabeth Kubler-Ross |

An excellent comparsion between life and death. Clever. I really enjoyed this poem. ------------------------ "Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too? " Douglas Adams. Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky "You have your very own number They dress your cage in its nature Once you roared now you just grunt lame Pace around pathetic pound games Wanna get out won't miss you sensaround To carry your own dead to swing your tyre tricks Wanna get out here you're bred dead quick For the outside, The small black flowers that grow in the sky They drag sticks along your walls Harvest your ovaries dead mothers crawl Here comes warden, Christ, temple, elder Environment not yours you see through it all Wanna get out won't miss you sensaround To carry your own dead to swing your tyre tricks Wanna get out here you're bred dead quick For the outside, The small black flowers that grow in the sky Here chewing your tail is joy" Richey Edwards |

Hoot~ So many times I've thought of this beautiful occurrence in life. The beginning of one ... the ending of another ... the circle of life goes on. Lovely, tender sentiments, hon. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Ruth, This is just a wonderful illustration of how one door opens when another door closes. The way you have captured the contrast between life and death is fabulous. This one is a gem!! ![]() LW |

The circle of life, an excellent poem Ruth... you have a tough job...I admire anyone who can be there for both the entrance to life and the entrance to Heaven. ![]() |

Ruth-- you did an excellent and very beautiful job with this. i enjoy your work immensly. you are able to take complex subjects such as life and death and write them in such a way that not only can everyone understand but also can probably relate to. take care! this was real good. i enjoyed the simplicity melded so wonderfully with depth. it reminded me of the song "lightning crashes", except the pictures were clearer here. good stuff. i dig it. We all got somethin' we need to atone for. |

Ruth~ Very lovely, dear! I have always put my faith into the simple fact that there is never really an ending - just a new beginning for a new path. ![]() Love Ya~ ~you reached inside, you touched my heart, and I am all the better for it~ Terry A. Woodson, Jr. |
