Campfire Addicts ~~~ Gentle glow of embers flicker ignite the kindle flames unfold Logs catch bright as smoke gets thicker flames of red with blue tipped gold ~ Children smile while toasting mallow weenies sizzle on a fork Friends and neighbors getting mellow enjoying warmth of campfire folk ~ Seasons greetings friendly campers change of pace from weekly work Can't wait to hear the latest gossip your weenie's done please pass the fork ~~~ [This message has been edited by Rex Allen McCoy (edited 05-21-2000).] |

I got a chuckle with the ending Loved this read, Rex. I'm picturing the campfire...your words describe it so well. Thanks! Marie~ |

Marie~ ... Corinne Thanks for reading ... totally toasty is correct ... and don't forget to drop the weenie into the ashes a couple times to season the taste |

"Getting mellow" with the reading of this glowing poem, Rex...this is lovely with just the right touch of whimsy. I am definitely a campfire addict. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

... and let the marshmallows (stacked two deep on the stick) catch on fire, brown to perfection, blow it out... slide off the toasted shell with your fingers... get roasty toasty white stuff all over the place... and stuff it in yer mouth all in one bite..... |

I don't prefer ashes, but it sounds like a great time. Actually I have a big fire pit in my back yard. Who's coming for a weenie roast? Don't forget the marshmallows! |

Rex~ Cutting palmetto fonds and sharpening the stems to put those weenies and marshmallows on. And then one of those 'old' popcorn baskets .. just for the campfire ! Hey, anyone for 'Smores'? Great memory shaker, Rex. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Claire ... Good friends round a campfire ... It doesn't get much better Nan ... sounds like you've done it once or twice ... we'll give you a finger bowl Denise ... it sure does and it's back to give us more WhtDove ... we put a firepit in our yard last year and it's probably the best investment we ever added to our yard ... who needs to camp ... friends gather all week long ... it's great Martie ... put a pit in your yard ... and they'll come ... new memories Marge ... love the smores but they don't love me ... we do all kinds of Pie Irons ... the pizza ones are good ... ... I'm getting hungry ... |
