Ain't Nobody Home
~*Marge Tindal*~

Ain't nobody here
don't bother to knock
The porch chair now empty
got no reason to rock

Ain't nobody home
done up and gone away
Got no audience to the songs
she used to play

It used to be
not so very long ago
this place was full of merriment
then away it all did go

Mama she would sit
at the piano every evening
plunking out the tunes
her chest just a'heaving

She'd lead us in song
gospel and rock
Mama quit singing,
ticking of a wound-down clock

Ain't nobody home
the wreath withers on the door
nobody comes to call
nobody lives here anymore

Silent are the voices
that used to be my own
Mama gone - the family died
ain't nobody home

Marge,
I read every thing you write. Your subjects are very vaired. You are extremely talented. I enjoy this type of deep thoughts. I lost my mom a little over a year ago and I still miss her.
Have a good day.

This is sad, Marge....sort of desolate and lonely. I can just see this empty house with that empty porch chair. It made a chill go up and down me. You could poeticize beautifully anything under the sun, awesome!

Love and hugs,
Your mentee,
Lil Lizzie

Amazing what Mom can do for a family
When she's gone, we need only to visit our memories and everything else becomes dust covered and neglected ... unfortunately sometimes other family members with it

very sad Marge

Melton~
Thank you so kindly for your comments.
Mom's can evoke the deepest feelings
in all of us ... missing them is so deeply
felt ... I miss mine also.

Lil' Lizzie~
It is sad but it's what I felt after hearing of a friend whose whole family has fallen apart since their mom passed on.
Hon .. hug your mom BIG TIME !
Love you.

Rex~
So true ... it does sometimes seem that mom's are the 'glue' that holds the family together ...  I have tried to portray the feelings of a friend in this one.
Trying to help him pull his family back together.
Thank you for your reply.
Love ya'

Marge this absolutely heartwrenching. Even though it brought tears to my eyes, I loved it.

Marge, this poem really touched me. It reminds me of my own family, and I'm afraid of what will happen when my grandmother passes away...

Oh, but I like the Southern Dialict! It made me feel more at home!

SweetThing~
Yes, it tears at the heart ...
but it also is too true to ignore.
It seems to me that when my mother died,
I took the apron strings and made sure that my brother and sisters kept in touch.
It's so unfortunate when that doesn't happen.
Thank you so much for your comments.

LoveBug~
Hon, this southern heart also has that 'southern dialect' down.  It just so happens that when my friend was telling me about his family growing apart ... some of the phrases were memories that came from his telling.
He had just visited his old homesite and the memories flooded him to tears.  We've begun a search to reunite his family and try to pull them back into the circle they once shared.
Thank you, little LoveBug.
I wish your grandmother many more moons.
Love you

Marge,

You hit home with this one.  Got me in the heart...so true, so very true.  My mom was the glue in my family, now that she is gone almost no one speaks.  Things are so different...sad to admit this, but I don't think it will ever be the same.  Great writing, my friend.

Hon, I hope you make the effort to bring the family back together ... sometimes all they need is a friendly prod from another heart.
It won't ever be the same ....
but don't give up trying to reach your family.

Wow Marge - Sure hit home with this one.  My Mom was a southern "belle" and everything fell apart when she died.  This whole poem rings so sadly true....You have sure captured the essence of such a loss.  Bonnie

You're batting 1000 lately...this very thing happened after the parents were gone... perhaps with age, the younger siblings will know just how important it is to forgive... and forget...and remember that they still have each other...but only for a very short time...

A real tear jerker, this.

Everything has to have it's season and then fade to dust. Very tight poem, marge!

Hon, it is up to you to pull them back together ... as it is to all of us when family starts to disassemble. HUGS

Karilea~
You're right .. too short the time and
when it is gone .. we can't gather them back.
Thanks, hon.

Danny~
Glad it touched you.

Marge,

This is so powerful and true, and made me stop and think.  Oh, how important mothers are to us.  They are the heart of the family.  What's important, I think, is to grab hold to those things that moms teach and give those to our own children.  That way they live on forever.
Very beautiful and touching.  You are so very talented Marge.

Lori~
I do thank you for your comments.
Yes, mothers are often the heartbeat of the family unit ... we all have an obligation to honor their teachings and pick up the family heartstrings and wind them tightly home.  In doing so, we have perpetuated the legacy that our mother's leave to us.
Appreciated your thoughts so much.
