**This was a collaboration with my muse, Jeff Osborne.  My stanzas are bold, his are in italics.  The final stanza was written by both of us**

Who is this man who stands before me?
Have I seen him someplace?
Familiar longing in his eyes,
One I’ve seen in my own
Realization dawns on my face
Can he see the possibilities?

Did she really look my way?
Was that my reflection in her sparkling eyes?
Gentle blush to her cheeks
Soft smile lighting up her face
Recognition bringing on a look of surprise
Please look at me again.

I steal a glance from beneath my lashes
As I reach for his hand
Fingers dancing across his flesh
Reveling in the feel of him
Hard to believe I’m touching this man
Does he feel the same magic?

Did she really touch my hand?
Was that her warmth caressing my skin?
Soft palms gently holding
Fingertips brushing nerves of pleasure
The sweet sensation pulling me in
Please touch me again.

An impulse I can’t deny,
My finger draws questions on his cheek
Brazenness overcomes--
Tongues dancing together
I find the fire that I seek
Could he taste my fear?

Did she really kiss my lips?
Was that her breath mingling with mine?
Cool lips lightly touching
A brief hesitation yielding to desire
Sending shivers of longing down my spine
Please kiss me again.

Yearning for more of his kisses
I press his lips to mine
Losing myself in his wonder
Drowning in those eyes
Focused only on this instant in time
What was he thinking?

Did she really make love to me?
Was that her body holding me tight?
Sounds of passion and ecstasy
Our senses alive as we explore
Climaxing in an explosion of delight
Please make love to me again.

Months of endless waiting, now ended
Will we reap what we’ve sown?
Our moment of truth--
I know the questioning look in his eyes
I’ve seen it in my own.
What do we do now?

Did she fall in love with me
Or is this just a dream in my head?
Our biggest fear left unanswered:
If we don’t succeed as lovers,
Can we settle for friends instead?
What do we do then?

Tara and Jeff,
this is so wonderful!!  I love the interplay between the two of you. . .the dialogue is just superb. . .

Shows what really goes on in the minds of two people who love and care about each other. . .

Hope that you both find the answers that you seek my friends. . .

A wonderful combination.  I found myself anxiously waiting for the next set of thoughts.

I really liked this!

It's so nice to read something different that is filled with so much expression.  I like the style and the creativeness of this.
A wonderful idea!  Super writing!

Thanks for the comments guys.  We really appreciate them.  Amy, we may make beautiful poetry, but we're still afraid to find out if we make beautiful music.

Thank you everyone for the words of praise for Tara and I's first writing "duet". She inspired a beautiful dream that was so powerful that it had to be expressed in words; I hope that when we finally meet in person that we can make our dream come true.
