Author's note - as I grew up there was never a Mother's Day Card that fit my mom - so for years I had to write my own, and still do. To Mom Happy Mother's Day, Mom May it bring you joy with visits from your daughters and your sons May each of them love you for the woman you are now and start afresh and forget the past of what we perceived a mother should be Every child has an idea of what life is all about we judged you too harshly of that I don't doubt We were children with thoughts of our own of what a mother was suppose to be we expected too much from you of that many of us can see We wanted a mom to defend us with the strength only a mother can loving arms and decent meals and being carefully tucked in Life is not a bowl of roses and not a single one of us does it right but I see that you have grown wiser as each day turns to night For many years now it seems you have stood by my side and became the ferocious tigress that I always wanted in my dreams The mom that we expected to guard us with all her motherly might has become a pillar of strength a beacon - our shining light Thank you, for the gift of life and the many things for us you did and for being such a tigress grandma protecting all of our kids And best of all, Mom thank you for being my closest and dearest friend for you, my love will never end netswan |

You spoke from your heart Netswan, and no Hallmark card could hold a candle to what you've written with such caring and devotion. This is a wonderful and unique poem ... Best wishes, /Kit |

What a beautiful poem to your mother!!! She's lucky to have you, just like by your poem you are VERY lucky to have her! ~Kelly Reflect upon your present blessings-of which every man has many-not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some. ~Charles Dickens We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. ~Winston Churchill |

Swan this is so lovely and kind. not all families fit into the manufactured images of Leave it to Beaver and so many times those cards in the stores dont work. so glad to see the healing and changes this poem speaks of. take care, jm |

Netswan, Thanks so much for the email up late. This brings so many tears to eyes... But at least I still have Rosemary's mom... Sheesh, where are we going..? What am I wearing..? What are we going to talk about..? Did we get a card..? Sakes alive... what are all these thoughts. Guess you rocked me socks again. If I could paint a portrait, of this life in which I've led, and somehow sketch a story, of the visions in my head, I'd start out with a canvas, stretched tightly in a frame, and in the bottom corner, I'd leave room to sign my name.
