Fear I'm afraid of death But I'm not afraid of dying I'm afraid of tears But I'm not afraid of crying I'm afraid to leave But I'm not afraid to go I'm afraid I'll stay the same But I'm not afraid to grow I'm afraid of feeling But I'd say most of all I'm afraid to be in love Because I'm afraid I'll fall I'm afraid to show you What's inside my heart I don't want to stop But I'm afraid to start I'm not afraid to listen But I'm afraid to understand I'm not afraid to fly But I've forgotten how to land I'm afraid to let you Look into my eyes I'm afraid you might discover Where my secret lies I'm afraid to be with you But I'm afraid to walk away I'm afraid I won't have Enough strength for the day I'm afraid to be weak But it's so hard to be strong I'm afraid I won't end up Back where I belong I'm afraid you will let Your love for me fade Please don't forget The promise that you made You promised to make me smile You promised I'd never frown If I let you love me Please don't let me down |

CSwtThng...This is so poignant and beautiful. I love the way it ends and it flows so smooth. You have nothing to fear but fear itself. Old adage I know but they get to be old adages because of the truths they hold. Really enjoyed this post. Poetry~ Words falling on paper, painting a dream. Shawna R. Holder Boise, Idaho |

Wow, What a wounderful poem, I loved it, it had strength, flow and sentimentality . This has to be one of the best poems I have read for a few days . I know a few people who think exactly in the way that you have described in your poem, and I myself sometimes find myself thinking like that . It is a horrible state to be in, not knowing what to do . When I get like that I sit down with some cofee and chocolate biscuits and think very hard about the situation . L.of.L. Tom . With poetry as your weapon - express your iner feelings so all may carry your sorrow, united as one . |

It's good to know someone understands. I ate a half gallon of ice cream as I wrote. I appreciate Tom. |

SweetThing~ The fear of not feeling is certainly not something you're missing. You've presented this extrememly well. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

I love the play on the Woody Allen quote in the first two lines, "I am not afraid of death, only dying." great poem, bravo. favourite pieces are: I'm afraid to let you Look into my eyes I'm afraid you might discover Where my secret lies I'm afraid to show you What's inside my heart I'm afraid of feeling But I'd say most of all I'm afraid to be in love Because I'm afraid I'll fall. Life can be frightening and full of uncertainties, but that is what makes it so exciting. |

CS - you asked for opinions - well, here you go, beware I am very opinionated. This is a wonderfully written poem, with your heart on your sleeves and honest and worthy of reading! When you give your love such as you are portraying here, we let everything about us come out to the top ------good or bad, doesn't matter - for once that special kind of love comes out there are no holds to bar you from loving and trusting and caring -----------but to get that, we must start with trust. Good luck --) netswan |

CSwt, this piece you write brings to light a truth in life that I have learned .. there is no guarantee. Yet, I know that love in one's heart will always keep and for that experience it makes our life all the better. CocoBaci ~ I loved your poem ~ |
