In the glow of moonlight (another cliche) I felt the gaze of the beams Fall upon my somber face While you asked for my hand (in marriage that is) I wasn't sure As I am not now That it just wasn't the chlorine in the pool, And maybe you'd swallowed some of it, Making your senses a little off balance. Or maybe it was the inhalation Of the night's presence. I'm still trying to figure it out, Because when the ripples on the water faded, I said yes. If only to stop you from asking. Was I scared? I was, but I meant it. I meant it every time you asked, And everytime I said yes. And when we finally got around to it, I could only glimpse what was in store. Now I realize what a small glimpse it truly was, As we ride the waves of a life in marriage, With the care and tentativeness, Of a small child holding a newborn baby. Nothing can deter a poet, for he is actuated by pure love. Who can predict his comings and goings? "Thoreau" |

ROTL! I just realized that the end of my poem isn't very clear. I hope the congrats are for my marriage and not because you think I'm with child! LOL! Uh oh...I can just hear the rumor mill now!! Laters, and thanks for your response. Nothing can deter a poet, for he is actuated by pure love. Who can predict his comings and goings? "Thoreau" |

Temptress, How'd you ever drag yourself away from him and of course reading poetry. I just had to give you a little nudge to above so RJ can catch you. She loves love... me too. If I could paint a portrait, of this life in which I've led, and somehow sketch a story, of the visions in my head, I'd start out with a canvas, stretched tightly in a frame, and in the bottom corner, I'd leave room to sign my name. I know this feeling well and hope your honeymoon lasts for a lifetime. Mine has for 15 years to date. This is so sweet. Not with child eh? LOL Funny how rumors get started. Thanks for the disclaimer Poetry~ Words falling on paper, painting a dream. Shawna R. Holder Boise, Idaho |

I loved your poem! I'm still newlywed, though I've loved my husband thirty-seven years, and we've lived through many tears. I married a deep, caring and mystical man; and I'm an emotional, tender, and intensely curious lady. We've kept each other fascinated, and loving through all the sorrow that life has held. May your newlywed-ness last the same! |

rofl after our talk yesterday I originally thought you were talking about being on the internet and still feeling like a newlywed to it..... LMAO uhmmm so I opened the poem and you were talking about your sweetie and I had a nice pleasant surprise! Very good poem, I wish everyone could feel this way, I truly do. *still shaking my head* ~H |
