T'was summer time, and Santa Claus, From all his toils, took well earned pause, While Mrs. Clause, in rocking chair, Darned Santa's suit, there was small tear. The reindeer played, on tundra green, They formed a band, with tamborine, As Blitzen sang, and Comet drummed, On bass guitar, dear Rudolph strummed. Where were the elves? to Ireland gone, To summer jobs as leprachaun, That was but one, the smallest elf, Who at North Pole, was by himself. No other elves with which to play, The reindeer said, elf stay away, You have no rhythm, no instrument, From reindeer band, wee elf was sent. Then wee elf knocked on Santa's door, Elf was not heard, too loud the snore, So off elf went, so sad I fear, Upon his cheek, a wee elf tear. He packed wee bag, with wee elf clothes, In hanky blew, his wee elf nose, Wee elf went south, it seemed the way, When left North Pole, that summer day. Back at the Pole, was time to eat, When Santa Claus, spied empty seat, Where is wee elf, where can he be? They found room bare, catastrophe! A call to hooves, all reindeer hurry! As Santa yelled, to sleigh let's scurry! And off all flew, to find wee elf, Who by this time, had lost himself. As wee elf cried, he heard a jingle, A far off bell, his heart did tingle, For from the north, came Santa's sleigh, To take elf home, to ever stay. Back at North Pole, wee elf did tell, All of the joy, of hearing bell, So Rudolph gave to smallest elf, A wee sleigh bell, to play himself. Then wee elf joined the reindeer band, Wee silver bell, rang in his hand, Played special song he wrote himself, Called "Jingle Bells", by smallest elf. |

Then smallest elf a purple sort Rejoined the band of jingly sport No matter that he was not green For color-blind his maker'd been. He helped Rudolph to show the way To bring kids toys on Christmas Day ![]() |
