She never interpreted my actions in an ill-sense, She loved with a generosity of soul. She enjoyed giving me a helping hand and helped my father when he grew old. From time to time she showed me one cannot purchase love, but must give it away abundantly. And then it seems the entire universe Will bear more burdens, become more compassionate And people will live more benevolently. I never understood her quiet attention, and excessive charity. Her astonishing love for others Until now. How well-spent her time! How can I ever be more like her? But still I try. [This message has been edited by bboog (edited 05-05-2000).] |

Inspiration! Some people are inspired by fortune and fame Some by the unusual traits of another Some by society's prestigeous name And I, by the values instilled by my mother Loved this! Liz |

An excellent tribute to your mother. Being a man who places a great deal in detail, I must point out that generosity has no "u". The writing is filled with good emotion. |

A loving tribute, bboog. Only one thing I'd change, the arrangement of this line (which may be limited by the character length of this forum's software) seems as though "love" should be on the same line or else break the line up somewhere else to compensate for the character limitations. Corinne From time to time she showed me one cannot purchase love, |

To L~, Balladeer,D~, Marti, and Corinne, Thank you for reading and commenting on this poem. L~: glad you liked it. Denise~ If you have a son it may take longer for him to appreciate you, but trust me, one day he will! Balladeer: Thanks for your comment as well as pointing out the typo. I am not a great speller. Thank you. Martie~ Thank you. Corinne~ I'll play around with that line, thanks for bringing it to my attention. [This message has been edited by bboog (edited 05-04-2000).] |

Hi bboog, This is a sweet, loving, and beautiful tribute to your mother. I hope you are presenting it to her on Mother's Day. I'm sure she will be very deeply touched by your words. Kris the poet's pen...gives to airy nothing A local habitation and a name ~ Shakespeare |

Hi Kris, Thank you for your kind words. I was thinking about reading it aloud to her on Mother's Day. She passed away six years ago, but I still think she might have appreciated it. best regards, bboog |

I have to tell you "I like." Mama said undernieth ever shell there's a heart, sometimes it's just harder to see... Thanks for the showing bboog. We all need to have a little more respect for each other. If I could paint a portrait, of this life in which I've led, and somehow sketch a story, of the visions in my head, I'd start out with a canvas, stretched tightly in a frame, and in the bottom corner, I'd leave room to sign my name. What a lovely and inspirational tribute to your mother bboog. You have surely been blessed to have had her in your life ... I'm sure she is proud and has heard you recite this several times already as you wrote it from your heart. What a beautiful thought to read it aloud on Mother's Day ... Best wishes, /Kit |
