Looking Glass Looking glass, closeted and cloaked, An oval form framed in black oak, semi-ignored for counted years, sum adding up to all my fears. A window to string dimensions, created to disband conventions, shakes dark images to my core, leaves me pleading for no more. All phobias we learned as kids, reflected in uneven grids, fun house mirror on the wall, what frightens us most of all? First appeared in my pink room, from a tag sale, it was exhumed, just a girl on the brink of eleven, Catholic notions of hell and heaven. One night a storm raged outside, reflection sparked from inside, whispers of many voices beckoned, faces hovered for split seconds. Silver tears bled stained streaks, raining from a stranger’s cheeks, felt them watching from in there, now hidden up the attic stairs. A pane into pain, of an ugly past, caught between layers glassed, irrationally, I’ve kept this thing, what curse would eluding it bring? Distorted images of deception, of extrasensory perception. scenes of old abandonment play, future is past and present at bay. In looking back, prophetic mirror, obscured choices made even clearer. Why can’t I simply toss it out? Fear, this is my shadow of doubt. Outer Limits meets Alice in Wonderland, It isn’t expected that you understand. © 2000 CM Bailey [This message has been edited by Corinne (edited 05-03-2000).] |

Wow Corinne, You have transformed an inanimate looking glass into a beholder of history. Nice work! Hope to read more from you! This is an exceptionally well done piece. You've certainly gave life to the looking glass. This piece has me hesitant to look at mine now. Nevertheless I guess I must. Hope my mirror holds more than a piece of glass too. Peace. ACT. |

Corinne, I really love this poem...so wooohoohoo, a scary thing for a little girl. I can see why you keep it, what would happen if you tried to get rid of it, don't even want to go there. |

Corinne, Absolutely lovely, dear. The supernatural feel brings such a wonderful mood to this piece. Wonderful! ~you reached inside, you touched my heart, and I am all the better for it~ Terry A. Woodson, Jr. |

WOW!!! You have made the plain, old looking glass in to something mysterious and exciting! Great! Love and hugs, Lizzie ![]() "Poetry is the true expression of my soul, it is my ultimate means of communication. It is my rainbow of delight." |

Wow! This has a 'spooky' feel to it! Definitely shades of the Outer Limits! Wonderful writing, Corinne! This would make a great plot for a movie! Denise |

Corinne, I must agree that this had a haunting aura about it. I'm glad you don't expect me to understand it all, but for sure I don't want any old ornate mirrors to look at anymore. Are you afraid to look at the thing? This style seemed a little different for you, I like it too..... and thanks for the willynilly's Parker |
