A Lover Reborn He takes her in his hands once more In delicate caress Not wanting favors less or more Than just forgiveness For all the years of cruel neglect That came from his own sorrow His spirit would not e’er expect But kindness in the morrow His tongue in silence had abused All of her gracious ways That he enjoyed and overused In those voracious days And now he begs just one more chance To prove himself more kind And gives her one last loving glance As thoughts consume his mind So great an imploration dealt No one has ever heard A silent plea so strongly felt Without an uttered word She then awaits her lover’s touch Surrounding her with care Those feelings she enjoyed so much In days of love and dare His fingertips softly invoke That passion once again As she responds with gentle stroke His faithful poet pen Elizabeth Santos |
