Early Morning Misery Awakened by the elusive dream, now running into the mists of memory, her mind silently watches the images of the words she'd heard, now fading away… she can't remember what they were, only knew that she wanted them back. Now that slumber was just the by-product of night's past darkness, she slowly awakened to the new hour ~ too early ~ but the beginning of her day. Donning robe and slippers, retrieving glasses, pen and paper, she quietly shuffled with morning's gait to another room, where only the ticking of the mantle's clock, and the hum of the house kept any noise alive to accompany the scratching of the pen being pulled across dry paper capturing words. But not the words of her dream. ©KRJ 2 May, 2000 Sunshine Look, then, into thine heart, and write ~~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |

If I pulled you in Severn, then what would you like in your morning coffee? Thank you for your lovely comment... Sunshine Look, then, into thine heart, and write ~~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |

Sunshine~ There is no misery in a morning filled with such lovely poetry. I'll have a large mug of hot coffee mellowed with cream and another sweet poem. Oh what a beautiful morning ! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

LOL with Marge - and her lovely images...my only misery is not being able to catch those elusive words...slipping away with my dreams...but you know the sentiment exactly...coffee's on, cream is ready, and I've a little Irish to slip in it as well... |

'Tis a bit early to be slippin in the Irish, isn't it? Oh well, what the heck, I'll have one too! I can so totally relate to this, Sunshine. I wish those words would stick around a bit longer! Well done! Denise |

denise, we cheat around here and get the Irish syrup to put in our morning coffee - anymore, I wouldn't know what to do w/out that lovely wake-up call! I save the REAL stuff for the evenings! Thanks for popping in...and relating...it's too true, tisn't it? Sunshine Look, then, into thine heart, and write ~~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |

Yes, it is. Very frustrating at times. But I guess there is a reason for it.....maybe so we don't ever take those words for granted? Denise |

ARGHH... it's pure anguish when you can't catch that dream, isn't it. Or when the words that "were" there slip away... I hate when that happens to me. Good poem, in spite of the "slipping away"... Michael |

Welcome, DioBear, to Passions. Thank you for your comments. Strange, when I penned this, I thought perhaps it was too simplistic for the true poets here...but I guess truth of the matter reigns supreme! |
