Do you hear the music of the past are the words familiar to your ear do you still sigh on every note is it the song you want to hear or are the notes discordant things the scales offensive to the soul mindless blasts that play off key painful images you can’t control this music of the days now gone reverberates in ghostly beat of love and pain and anger too of sweet victory and sour defeat the songs I play seem shorter now soft whispers in the fading light dull empty things no one can hear compared to those I used to write I feel a great sadness coming on perhaps the final song is near will future bards remember them these special songs that I held dear Or will they fade as most songs do forgotten by the humanity to be lost in soundless space and time precious then only to me. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

Words are never lost. they reverberate forever. That is why we must write of lovely things. I enjoyed this one. Joyce |

Pegasus, this brings a tear to my eye... I guess I've heard too many sad songs... and also wonder when the final note will come. But some songs will live on -- won't they? This is poignantly beautiful, my friend. Lary |

quote: …as the ages come and go, and our words disappear from the memory of those that heard them—we have to remember that they served a purpose at their inception. These words we scribe, help define our worlds as we see them to ourselves and perhaps to those who were close to us. As they fade in the wind of memories… Um…I lost my train of thought…though perhaps you know where I was going … smiling I really, really love the feel and cadence of this, my friend. |

I still dance to the music of the past, but with one ear listening to the music of today. Someday the new music we make will become wonderful memories too. Lovely, lovely poem! |
