In a cubical I once called my home I reminience The walls hold memories One by one I dismissed I lie on my bed Looking at those cold hard stucco walls Hearing faint echos of words Said long ago Learning new lessons From a previous life One that I discarded For a life more free from strife This room was once a prison I was a prisoner of war My only hope was The thought of freedom So why did I return to this cubicle Where there are writings on the wall A part of me was left here In bits and pieces I'm finding parts of me That lay hidden Buried in the past Parts that should have been cherished But were scattered in a blast Picking up the pieces I'm finding the edges of this thing That was called my life A complicated jigsaw puzzle Worth every bit of perserverance In spite of everything I've lived a beautiful life |

Songbird: Enjoyed your poem and your search for pieces left behind. Sometimes we never find them, no matter how we try. Glad that your life has been beautiful. Betty Lou Hebert |

Lady, For some reason your presence here calms me, and your work is always something to ponder. Its so wonderful to see you. Are you still in Mississippi? *Jenn* How grave is my condition, for I cannot find the words to say, I need you so. |

Songbird, this is marvellous! We all have our cubicles, I think -- and you've portrayed it so well... although some don't want to go home. Lary |

So nice to know that when the "puzzle" is finally taking shape, and we finally find the edges and corners, the last two lines can be so simply stated. Beautiful write Songbird ~ Bonnie |

As life is always worth the wait, I enjoy your poem and the sharing of some on your pain. You can not run from whom you are and your past is merely one small part. For what I see is a poet whom has put together a work of art. |
