Ten thousand joys— Ten thousand sorrows— Each person life is counted thus so, measured out fleeting pleasure balanced with endless pain. If there was no strife there would not be a moment of peace. How can darkness be defined if there was no light? How could the sun be called hope if there were no clouds? Counted as grains of sands, life slips through our fingertips that cling to impossibilities. Was sorrow first before joy or is it joy that ended with a sorrow with each plaintive tick of time. It is the understanding that it must be so— and so it is. IHOPoets, bringing poetic scribes and poetry lovers together from all corners of the globe. |

Yes, everything has its opposites, it may just seem like the sorrows are more and longer than the joys. Joyce |

Good play with words, but I hope the story ends in a glorious sunrise! Life is about choice, most of the time. Enjoyed the poem. You have a way of always making me think on things. Deb |

Wonderful wisdom and as in times of sorrow the words " this too shall pass" ...so our gratitude for the glorious times of joy! A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |
