mommy was once a homecoming queen they said she was a meteor in the new dawn sky as stars twinkled in her eyes the world within her grasp a golden ring thus and so this was the story mommy told us as she kicked off her platform shoes and we would fight over who was to bring the bunny slippers ‘cause her feet would ache so from a hash-slinging day then home to cook for us creamed, canned pink flamingoes (fresh ones were too dear) served over pointed toast with a sprinkle of sunflower seeds and the frozen neon peas were carefully scooped from a hot water bath with her magic slot machine that turned into a wooden handle baton to choreograph the evening dinner homework! who’s turn it was to walk the dog “jonny don’t tease your sister, sue” mommy would sing “you wash” “she’ll dry” “lay out your clothes for tomorrow” while I refresh my memory of how to divide pi later for dessert tra-la! fresh made green-eyed monster cookies with purple icing then she would tease that the milk "it ain't vanilla!" it came from brown cows no matter how you slice and dice it mommy is still the homecoming queen and we are the ornaments in her crown -Wordancer, the poet who writes to the beat of a different drummer |

Denise, thanks for the kind words, though I'm going to have to admit that this is just a made-up poem from a word list. wordancer [This message has been edited by wordancer (edited 12-16-2001).] |

Well you've created a believable life experience from your "made-up poem from a word list"! Nicely done Hugs, ~Krista Your beautiful words & creativity allow me to connect with the same in myself. |

I really like this one! It reads like a catchy bluegrass song! Hugs, Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |
