A Hostile Presence - Part 2 A hostile presence I could feel. The sense of it was very real. A rocking chair began to sway Back and forth, although no way Could I have influenced it's space. I felt my heart begin to race. A humming sound began to grow. It had an evil source I know. I slowly backed out of the door, To cross the rooms until once more, I was outside, upon the walk. I put the key inside to lock The oaken door. Was shocked to find That it had locked itself behind. Or something did! I drove away Knowing that I would never stay Inside a house where spirits dwell And do not want me there as well. The house stayed vacant and I knew That other folks had found it too And been repelled by this mean haunt Who liked to frighten and to taunt. The place fell into disrepair And finally became a lair For vagrants, until it was sold. A stretch of freeway would enfold That spiteful spot and I for one, Was glad to see it's day was done! Very well done. I liked the rhyming and the flow of the poem, plus the story telling was excellent. "Never underestimate the power of idiots in larget groups." |
