So anyway I don`t really know why I`m posting this I havn`t written anything like it before so I think I just wan`t to know if it is a poem. Last night I was riding a subway in Tokyo and sat 4 seats down on the opposite row to a women, she was the kind of women who people would just look at and acknowledge she existed, she was middle aged. Anyway I wen`t to the pub an hour later to write up my diary for the day but instead for Sunday the 20th I wrote this: You don`t have to look beutifull to be so. She sits on the crowded subway men jostle women chat, her eyes are closed her lips pulled tight she isn`t trying to rest. Her smile so feint but more then true, a smile that belongs in dreams, maybe she is dreaming of the man she loves waiting for her at home, maybe she is dreaming of her life as a child innocent and free, maybe she is dreaming of anywhere but this damn subway..only she knows. I decided to title it subway women becuase that was what it was and the story is just what I saw. Thanks. |

Very interesting. I have done the same.Wrote an impression of someone seen for just a few moments. Once a woman, elderly, riding a bicyle, a pretty scarf flying from around her neck, crossing the Guilford Green. Made me stop and sift the many thoughts that passed through my mind. Keep looking at life through friendly and wondering eyes. martyjo |
