Wise Susie My Susie is charily cautious, Spending none of her time in regret. She savors each good hour she's given; The bad ones will simply forget. If she finds she must stay in her kennel, She chooses to sleep it away. When invited along on a journey, She counts it a wonderful day. She knows that the sumer is fleeting, And spends every minute outdoors. She buries her nose in its essence And only comes in if it pours. While I, as an ignorant human, Think duty must come before fun; Resisting the call of the weather And missing my day in the sun. Next winter when sunshine is hiding, I'll long for those bright summer rays; While Susie, content by the fire Has memory to warm dismal days. By: Joyce 8/16/06 |

ahhh...Susie.. what memories it stirs. My kids had a black lab growing up called Susie. they got her when she was a year old. what a wonderful dog she was. we were all saddened at her passing years later.my kids are grown now but still pine for that little susie.they never got another dog. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |
