Is there a treasure rare and ever faithful That stays the long and winding course Through pleasant days without a care And jagged trials of dark intent Is it possible to find such wealth Scattered randomly among the chaff Hidden deftly yet in plain sight Waiting patiently for the one true soul That kindred spirit most harmonious With pulse that mimics perfectly The beat that wanders aimlessly Starved for the melody to set it free This endless void that sears the heart That tears the fiber of true faith May be a hollow echo in the wind A cruel prevarication that dulls the mind Yet unrequited passion drives it on Ever forward into that merciless breach The breach that all must cross who seek That perfect match for life’s embrace the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |
