Virulent
some politicians plan
contagious as The Lady
raging cross the land

Innocent as lightning
lepers foetid woes
Bulwarks now corrupted
in sympathy it grows

Uncompromising
bitter wife
faithless to its home
Flashing lights
Emergency
still the cancer grows

Heartless
from the very heart
As breath to be ignored
Finger in a leaky boat
much too far from shore

Mindless
Uncaring
Elephant and Ant
Bony remnants of the kill
show a masters hand

Mighty arches disappear
Parthenon no more
Smoothed the sand on empty beach
in oceans sullen roar

We
We fools we build them
Reinforce those concrete blocks
Rust
Forever faithful
unpicking all the locks
