Lil Buddy

His eyes close with contentment
as loving hand scratches behind ear.
His love evident, absolute devotion
shown with lick, a deep doggie sigh.

Described as man’s best friend
this my companion, friend indeed.
His antics bring laughter, much joy
his presence enriches my existence.

He knows my moods, my quirks...
accepts me, loves me, obeys anyway.
In return he is nurtured, deeply loved
his place at my side reinforced, assured.

My little exasperating buddy
snores as he guards, every night.
As I reach out to him, he smiles
his eyes close with contentment.

Great poem. Funny thing, I just wrote one about me and my dog, which I was going to post, but will wait for people to really enjoy yours first. We've always had dogs and can't imagine living without them.
