Slow autumn at my window The wrinkled body of the log At rest within the fire As if little by little You had forgotten The wind in the banners Away behind the hills Passing through my life To leave me on the shore Remembering the hour Each day, each moment All my love, the fire repeated In me nothing extinguished As if everything were sailing Towards your island, wait for me In my sky at twilight You are my star In your light my dreams take flight How in solitary sleep I believe you to be mine The lamp of my soul dyes your feet My arms of music, wide as the sky Upon the shore Lost in your eyes of morning The land where dreams begin |

There's a gentle goodness hovering about this poem.....and it makes me glad I stopped to read. |
