When Ravens Talk I like the sound, when ravens talk. From out the woods, I hear them squawk And wonder what it is they say? What is the topic of the day? I watch them as they start to fly, Then land within a tree nearby. Their beady eyes all trained on me, As I pass by and I can see They're full of curiosity! They sometimes mutter, as though shy That someone overhear their sly Comments on the world below, Where people wander to and fro, To get the papers or the mail. They cock their heads and flick their tail. Dismiss as foolish every trait We humans seem to propagate! But food they do appreciate! Betty Lou Hebert |

Well only you could make me like anything to do with crows! They are the most noisy critters we have around here, and if they are in a flock forget trying to hear anything else. Your version is quite lovely though. |

Dear Mysteria: So nice to hear from you and glad I have swayed you a little in liking crows better! Honestly, they are a very interesting bird! I will admit they are nosy and noisy however! Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

I loved this! The crows and black birds flock in my back yard. They are boisterous, raucous, and so smart! They line up on the telephone wires and watch me through the kitchen window as I wash dishes. One day I watched one cover a piece of bread with a maple leaf. He actually cached it! I could not help laughing. He was so proud of himself. ~ Klassy ~ [This message has been edited by Klassy Lassy (03-08-2006 01:21 AM).] |

Kind of opposite, heh, most poems deal with Raven's in a dark, dismal way, like Poe, but this poem starts dark, lightens up, and ends with a laugh. |

Betty, I love the way you use rhyme to tell these lighthearted stories the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |
