Laughter

Drifting in the twilight, it finally came to land
Was the gentle breezes, that brought it close to hand
Somehow in its innocence, it let us understand

In the silence of the field, death had held his reign
Muffled sobs from wounded men, echoing their pain
Giggles from the several; who had gone insane

The coughing bark of mortars, no longer filled the air
Dying screams, shouted orders, long had disappeared
We had been relieved, no longer should be scared

The land where we were fighting, it was not our own
Desperate was the battle, to protect a town
Now we were enraptured, by a simple sound

For a sound; a strange sound, echoed through the glen
A sound that should be absent, from this world of men
A sound that we had thought, we'd never hear again

A trickling of laughter, from houses down below
Childrens voices giggling, wafting cross the snow
Giving to our empty hearts, a satisfying glow

Live It

A poignant reminder that even in the times of stress, the laughter of a child can lift our spirits~
